Friday, Nov 30 (yes, that’s right, just like the website) I’ll be downtown to hear about Iran and U.S. policy from a noted writer and a recent political prisoner. Ali Shakeri was imprisoned earlier this year when he went to Iran to be with his mother around the time of her death. Reese Ehrlich is a journalist who has covered Mideast issues for years, and has written a couple of books, including “The Iran Agenda: the Real Story of the US Policy and the Middle East Crisis.” The event is sponsored by a number of peace and justice groups, including the American Iranian Friendship Council.

For those who want to read up on Iran’s past, including the U.S. sponsored overthrow of the Iran government in 1953:
- An excerpt from the frightening but revealing book “Killing Hope”
- A story from PRI’s the World on the CIA overthrow of Iranian government in 1953 (so you can read or listen to it)
